Reading Assignment

Hello for perhaps the last time, this blog will record the fact that I did fulfill the reading assignment for this class having read the Books "Thriving Youth Groups" by Jeanne Mayo and the book "How to Speak to Youth and Keep Them Awake at the Same time" by Ken Davis. Mayo's book seemed to fit alot more in the Discipleship mode of the reading assignment giving valuable tips at creating a Youth group enviornment in today's youth culture so that teens will feel loved, they'll feel like they belong and with that kind of an enviornment can grow to become the men and women of God they are called to be. Mayo's book was truly connective and easy to understand and follow. I feel that using her book will defintely be helpful for my youth ministry future. Creating that sense of belonging is truly, as Jeanne says, the most pirvotal and important aspect of youth ministry. Without that, evangelism and discipleship are out of the question. The other book I read for this assignment was "How to Speak to Youth and Keep Them Awake at the Same time" by Ken Davis. This book I felt gave great tips on how to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ effectively to today's youth. I felt it to be a great help for my current and future ministry. Both books were out of the Box in alot of ways and both books were very very helpful in giving me helpful information on being able to effectively communicate to teens Post-modern American teenagers as well as create a loving enviornment for them to grow. I thank Mr. Tom Rees for accetping these two awesome books to count towards my Reading Assignment for this class. I thoroughly enjoyed your class and learned alot of different ways to go about ministry in the 21rst century through the various speakers that graciously shared their hearts and visions. Thank you and May God Bless you.
